Questions about this or that.
A few tips to help you know what to expect — especially helpful before your first appointment.
Getting Here
Where are you located?
323 Geary Street, Suite 220, San Francisco, CA 94102. Click here for directions.
Is there parking?
Street parking is hard to come by in Union Square. Multiple garages are available in the Union Square area. Please allow enough time to find parking and walk over.
Taking transit? My office is very close to multiple Muni lines and the Powell Street BART station.
How do I get into the building?
Tuesday through Friday, when security is at the desk, the front door will be open. If it is after 5:30 PM, a Saturday, or security has stepped away, there is an intercom to gain access — enter 220 (or follow the instructions on the screen), and I'll buzz you in. You can always text me at 415-997-8141 if you have any trouble, and I'll pop down to get you. I make myself available within 15 minutes of appointments, so just try again if you're earlier than that and I miss you.
Booking, Hours & Policies
How do I book an appointment?
Book a Customized Facial online anytime through the Schedule page, email jill@jjodar.com, or text me at 415-997-8141.
Please email or text for multiple service appointments (e.g., facial lash and brow), to ensure there is enough time. Some advanced treatments and series require a consultation before booking — the Treatments page notes where that applies.
General info:
- I require a credit card to secure an appointment for all new clients.
- I answer calls, texts, and emails Tuesday through Saturday during normal business hours. I always check in between clients.
- I cannot hold appointment times — I will respond to all inquiries as soon as I can, but if trying to book through email or text, your preferred slot may get booked in between our correspondence.
- Please note: if you reach out through social media, I will get back to you within one business day.
What are your hours?
By appointment only:
- Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 am to 7 pm (last appt. 5:30)
- Thursday and Friday, 9 am to 6 pm (last appt. 4:30)
- Saturday, 9 am to 4:30 pm.
What is your cancellation policy?
A 48-hour cancellation notice is required to avoid the cancellation fee (75% of services booked).
What if I'm late?
Late arrivals will change the starting time of your treatment, but not the ending time, in order to respect the next scheduled client. If a late arrival does not allow enough time for some or all of your booked services, you will still be charged the cancellation fee for those booked services. If you're running behind, please text me at 415-997-8141 and let me know.
Facial Treatments - Your First Visit
What should I expect for my first appointment?
I will email you a consultation form to fill out before your first appointment. I highly recommend filling it out ahead of time, but if you prefer to fill it out in person, please arrive 15 minutes early to avoid paperwork cutting into your treatment time. We'll review it in person and talk about your skin and treatment before your service starts. If you arrive more than 15 minutes before your appointment, I may be in with a client, and my suite door will be locked. If you're really early, I'll be with you soon!
How should I prepare?
No special preparation is required. Come with or without makeup — a thorough cleansing is part of every treatment.
What happens to my hair?
Your hair will be wrapped and/or covered during your treatment. While I do my best, your hairstyle will most likely get a bit mussed or compressed in the process. Best to schedule that hair appointment or blow-out for after your facial.
For men — should I shave first?
Most find it more comfortable not to shave the day of a treatment — it lessens the chance of irritation.
When can you not perform a treatment?
I am unable to perform a treatment if you are experiencing any of the following:
- Sunburn
- Allergic reactions
- Fungal conditions
- Cold sore / fever-blister breakout
- Botox™ or fillers within the last 2 weeks
For lasers or any other procedures, please defer to your physician for the appropriate wait time before a facial treatment.
If you're ever unsure, mention it when you book, and I'll let you know.
Product Orders & Online Shop Policies
How do you ship?
I process, pack, and ship all of your orders myself. I do my best to ship all in-stock orders within two business days, Tuesday through Saturday. Please note that orders placed Saturday through Monday may not be shipped until Tuesday. Orders are shipped First Class USPS, or UPS ground.
What's the shipping charge?
A shipping charge of $5.50 will be added to orders under $100. Orders over $100 ship free.
What if I want to pick up my order?
Please add a note to arrange a pickup during my normal business hours Tuesday-Saturday. My suite is locked while I am in with clients, so this ensures an easy handoff (I don't want you to have to wait outside a locked door)!
What if my package goes missing?
You will be sent a shipping confirmation with a tracking number for all shipped orders. Please be aware: I cannot be held liable for packages that are stolen or lost after being scanned as 'delivered' at their destination.
What if I have a problem with a product?
I completely stand behind the products you'll find here. In the rare event you have a problem with a product, simply bring it back in and receive credit towards the purchase of something else. Can't make it in? Drop it in the mail (first-class) and the return shipping charge will be added to your credit.
Treatment Questions
How do you decide which treatment is right for me?
I don't work from a fixed protocol. Every first visit starts with a written and verbal consult, and I design the treatment around your skin the day you're in my office. Your goals, along with our consultation and my skin analysis, will determine the products, technology, and treatment that day.
My skin is sensitive, reactive, or rosacea-prone. Can you still treat me?
Yes, and it's exactly why I customize instead of running a standard protocol. Sensitive, sensitized, and rosacea-prone skin is something I work with all the time. We go slow, watch how your skin responds, and adjust as we go. I have a full arsenal of products suitable for both this skin type and condition.
Can I get facials during cancer treatment?
Yes. I have specialized training in oncology esthetics, so I can give a soothing treatment that's also effective and safe for skin that's going through or recovering from cancer treatment. It's built around a thorough consultation. Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions or to discuss arrangements if cost is a concern. Find more information on the Soothe and Repair section of the Treatments page.
What is microcurrent, and what should I expect?
My microcurrent series uses a gentle current that automatically adjusts the electrical signal 1,024 times per second to adapt to your skin's unique conductivity. This patented current delivery stimulates cellular energy (ATP) by up to 500% without fatiguing the facial muscles over time. This is combined with anatomy-informed manual movements to firm and lift the contours of the face. It's not abrasive or invasive, with no redness, irritation, or downtime. Results build over time, so it's done as a series rather than a one-off. Find more information on the Microcurrent section of the Treatments page.
What is SWiCH™, and is it a chemical peel?
SWiCH is an alternative to chemical peels, not a peel itself. Instead of damaging the skin first, it works with your skin's own repair mechanism to restore a firmer, more radiant look, with little to no downtime. It is done in series of six treatments, once a month (with the option of a mid-month boosting treatment). A quick email or phone consult is required before booking. Find more information on the SWiCH section of the Treatments page.
